DescriptionOral History Project:The Oral History Association defines oral history as ?a field of study and a method of gathering, preserving and interpreting the voices and memories of people, communities, and participants in past events. Oral history is both the oldest type of historical inquiry, predating the written word, and one of the most modern, initiated with tape recorders in the 1940s and now using 21st-century digital technologies.?
This assignment is designed for you to develop this skill and contribute to the scholarship on the diversity of experiences of people in the U.S.by conducting an oral history, and creating a research project, based on a person whom you deem particularly significant in expanding on the themes of this course. The final version MUST engage, interrogate, and integrate course materials from at least two (2) lectures (from either professor) AND four (4) readings.
This final version of your project must include formatted note and bibliography citations, which are excluded from the word count requirement.
Format for written assignments completed outside the classroom: No cover page is necessary?provide your name, contact information (email preferred), date, the assignment, and the word count beginning with the first word of the first paragraph of your work,in single space, on the left-or right-hand sideof the first page of your essay. Provide a title (centered) for your work. Double space your essay, use 12-font Times New Roman and one (1) inch margins.
